Well since I already have the phone, $15 bucks for the cardboard, lenses and magnets isn't bad

That's ghetto but interesting. The only thing I don't like is that the screen won't follow you. I probably would see a way of projecting the image instead. Unfortunately, it would use your room for projection, so I guess that's why projects for display headsets has gained so much traction, but I remember things like these: Click Me and Click Me

Here you go McLovin. The real reason I got the cardboard. Click Me

If VR continues its development path I will probably end up getting one of the non-ghetto ones. The new HTC/Steam one looks cool. Then only thing is that the existing ones, such as Oculus, have the same resolution as my Nexus 5 but with AMOLED pentile matrix screens which have noticeable red pixels when magnified through the lenses causing colors to look strange.
